Meet the Gods: Creating a CD Cover

Today the great altars are empty, the great temples in ruins, but the gods of the ancient Greeks and Romans live on in powerful myths that have been retold for countless generations. These were gods who controlled the forces of nature, and primitive peoples looked to them to explain the many aspects of their lives that they did not understand like the booming thunder of a summer storm, the sudden rumbling of the ground during an earthquake, the violent burst of a volcano. They did not have modern day science to give them answers, all they had was their imagination. It was easy to picture the great Zeus, king of the gods, hurling down bolts of lightning from the clouds , or to imagine Hephaestus tending a roring fire that shot up out of the earth. Many of the gods had human desires, and thier stories are filled with emotion , love and rapture, jealousy and revenge, longing and despair.
The Greeks and Romans sacrificed amimals to their gods, jprayed to them when they were in distress, and told their stories over and over again.
Most of the surviving mythology comes from the Greeks, the Romans ahd some gods of their own, but for the most part they adopted the Greek tradition.

Project Process

1. After receiving your God, research and type ten facts about your God. Save this in a Word file.

2. Decide which genre your music CD will project. See # 4 in Project Requirements.

For each FACT you found, create a "song title" to be used on the back of the CD. Be sure the song title conveys the fact you researched about your god as well as the musical genre!

3. Choose an object to scan to your file. Go to the computer with the scanner, log on and go to my computer, choose the scanner, preview and save, log off. Go back to your computer and begin working with your files.

4. Collect images which relate to your God. Find a variety of images or create your images and begin to assemble your collage.
