The Work: First in your series of assignments will be the investigation into the principles and concepts of art. These ideas have been used to understand the nature of traditional art across all artistic disciplines including drawing, painting and sculpture.
The Technology: In order to understand how to create art in Photoshop you will first learn the technical aspects of the program. You will learn the technology through exercises based on the principles of design.
The assignments and problems addressed in class will be similar to those a professional graphic designer would be working on. These include; design exercises, posters, book covers, editorial illustration, package design, business cards, letterheads and web pages.
Printing and Display: Only your best work will be printed, you need permission before printing. You may save your work from Photoshop as a jpeg and send it home using your e mail for printing and saving at home.
Quizzes and Tests: Tests will be given to make sure you have mastered the necessary techniques, concepts and vocabulary.
Website: The website for graphic design is used to supplement the lessons, techniques and concepts taught in class. If you need additional help, you must attend extra help held on Mondays after school or in the morning by appointment only . You may also refer to the help menu in Photoshop.
Attendance and Lateness As per school policy - more than 14 abs. could result in loss of credit.

Field Trips Students in good standing in the art department may be invited to one of the many field trips the art department participates in each year.
